OT climate change - grinner - 6-:16 -0-09-20

I rode into town on a train yesterday and watched the haze and filth in the
air slowly get darker as i neared the city centre. from the train i watched
mile after mile of one occupant cars standing at red lights chocking the
planet.

by lunchtime the filth had blown out to sea but was visible on the horizon.

we're so serious about global warming we aren't even synchronising traffic
lights for the traffic to flow better.

going home in the dark i looked back on the city, every light in the high
rise business district aglow, cars again stuck at lights poisoning the
evening air.

there is no future.

On a lighter note, I played a Gibson SG in a shop last night that I'm
sorely tempted to get. I normally play a Les Paul and an old Tele that
has seen better days, but I wouldn't mind the SG for playing Cream songs.

Air pollution peaked in America a long time ago and has been steadily
decreasing. It is getting better, not worse. Some people seem to react
badly to evidence of their doomsday scenarios fading.

Not to worry. Al Gore and his cronies have ensured us a future
environmental catastrophe. Those CFL bulbs that use so little energy
contain mercury. Somehow I doubt that the majority of people are following
EPA standards for disposing of them.

But air pollution doesn't play favorites to one continent, country
etc..

As if we didn't have enough mercury pollution as it is. Funny thing
when bacteria get ahold of it in the sea it turns into methylated
mercury which is hundreds of times more toxic.

We're all going to be fucked with nowhere to hide in the very near
future. I suppose there is some biological entity in a landfill that
can methylate mercury too.

True. But I am not particularly bothered by Chinese or third-world
pollution so far. The air in America has been steadily getting better for
decades.

Though if I recall correctly there is evidence of Chinese air pollution
drifting over to the West coast of the U.S. Even so, things are better
than they were and the world didn't end.

Maybe will are screwed. But then every generation that has ever lived has
felt that they were doomed. But I suppose every hypochondriac will
eventually be proven right...

What happens as one ages is a pervasive sense of pessimism. The
phenomenon has been documented for thousands of years. M

I live in the NY area. The Hudson river was at its worst in the early
1970's and has been getting cleaner all the time.

I'd like to argue with that, but to be honest it is 100% true in my
case.

Don't be so Pessimistic ;-) In all honesty, I think its realism, not
pessimism. As you (in this case, I) get older I'm not in as much of a
hurry, tho I always seem to be hurrying :-/ Anyway, I've become more of
an observer and its amazing what you can see or hear if you just shut
up, watch and listen for a bit.

As for the environment, I've said it before. We are not here forever,
immortality is not possible and their is an inevitable end for humanity,
so party on dudes. Just don't shit too often in your own nest, be good
to your Mum and wash behind your ears.

Here endith the lesson. ;-)
