Jungle Blues - VampX - 02:16 30-11-08

I went and saw C.W. Stoneking last night at a little place called The
Corner Hotel down here in Melbourne. He's an odd little man - half
Australian and half Louisiannan accent playing 1920's - 30's jungle
voodoo blues from the old south. His parents are American but he was
raised in Katherine in the Northern Territory, spent quite a bit of
time in Warrnambool (NSW) and now lives in Melbourne.
He gets around the globe and is very widely acclaimed. His website is
http://www.voodoorhythm.com/c.w.stoneking.html but hasnt been updated
with his latest album - Jungle Blues.... which I am now going to have
to get a hold of as it's very addictive.

It was pretty neat. I quite enjoyed the whole evening. The place was
packed so looks like Delta Blues is on the way back??
That just has to be a perfect drag queen name: Delta Blues.

My main interest is prewar blues, and I really liked the mp3 on his
site. He has managed to get a guitar sound that is clever and
distinctive without being flashy, just right for the genre.
He was probably a kid in Katherine when I was working there.

Delta blues is as good as it gets imo. Wish I could play it.
Might have to track him down for a listen.

He is in his early 30s, so if he grew up in Katherine, he would have been
somewhere between about 5 and 18 years old when I was working there. I never
lived in Katherine, but I had trials and drank a lot of beer there.
