suspicions confirmed (net stores) - SotR - 17:45 12-11-08

It's been mentioned before that Musicians Friend and Music123 were the same
company or at least owned by the same company. Evident in that their
website's looked almost identical.
Well, I ordered a mic from M123 last night and the order confirmation came
today from MF.
But I ordered from M123 a couple of weeks ago and MF was never mentioned
anywhere in the various e-mails they sent regarding my order.
Guitar Center is continuing their quest for world domination.
AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could be wrong, but I think Music123 was a seperate company at one
time that went out of business (or almost went out) a year or two ago.
That may be the point at which they became bought out.

Actually I buy from many places including Sweetwater. For instance the only
place that had the Jensen vintage speaker I wanted in stock was M123. And
also the only who had in stock a certain Tenor sax mouthpiece. Plus they
priced matched my lowest found price on both items then took off a few more
$$'s to boot. But one item I purchased did not fit so I had a $40 store
credit with M123. That's why I bought the mic from them.

Gotcha. I check Sweetwater first, but sometimes they don't have what I
want and I have to bite the bullet and go to MF.

I try to go to Sweetwater...but more often than not, they don't have
what I'm looking for. Certain AudioTechnica headphones and the EV767A
vocal mic just recently, for example. So I usually end up at AMS.

Guitar Center has been gobbling up stores for a while. I got my killer
deal when they bought out Musician's Friend. MF actually had retail
stores on the west coast. GC was on one of it's "teenage breakups" with
Gibson at the time, and the manager was ordered to dump all
Gibson/Epiphone. Worked for me.
Mars Music suffered a similar fate. Now M123?
