BBE pedals at GC - Dr. Zontar - 09:35 07-11-08

Okay, you all should know how much I hate Guitar Center by now. But I
got their latest flyer, and there was a deal I couldn't resist.
They're selling 2 BBE pedals (the Green Screamer and the Free Fuzz)
for $49 each. That's about a 3rd of the list price. Plus, there's a
10% off coupon.

I got the Free Fuzz (I'm not really into Tubescreamer-type pedals). It
sounds and behaves very much like a silicon Fuzz Face. Plus it's got
true bypass (not a huge deal to me, but to some) and comes with an AC
adapter. A great deal for under $50.

I'm guessing they're loss leaders...trying to get you in the door.
That is a great deal. Enjoy!

I have been told by the guy who is manager of the local guitar store
(nonGC) that they really don't hardly make any $ on pedals. They
carry them for what you are talking about, getting people in the door.

I'm curious where their biggest profit margins lie...I'm pretty sure
cymbals is one.

It worked. OTOH, I didn't buy anything else, so maybe it didn't. . .

>=A0Enjoy!

Oh yeah. It sounds really nice in front of an already overdriven amp.
It's not as wild as a Big Muff, but it's sweet.

Extended warrantees? They've got to be making money on that.

No doubt that it's accessories; little things like picks, strings,
drum sticks, batteries and so forth. Those types of items usually
have bigger markups because they tend to be impulse items kept at the
checkout counter that you'll pay a little more for just because it's
convenient to get them while you're there buying something else.
Kinda like gum at the supermarket.

Those BBE pedals have only one fault I can see: They are too big.for
what they do.

If they were the size of the EH nano pedals, I'd buy a couple today. I
admit I'm a real-estate miser when it comes to my pedals, and
bigger=worse to me.

But it does sound like a good deal. Have fun!

Huh? When I opened the box, I was shocked at how SMALL the pedal
actually was. The box makes them look huge, but they're not. They're
downright tiny compared to an original Fuzz Face or Memory Man.

The fuzz is only an inch or 2 wider than a Nano Muff. It's about the
size of a DOD pedal, maybe a hair wider.

Extended warrantees are always a big money maker...I bet Epiphones and
other imports have big markups too.
