sore knuckles - jimmy - 12:49 08-09-08

I've recently developed bumps on the first (closest to fingernail)
knuckle of my left-hand index & middle fingers. I can feel it a bit
in my ring finget as well. There is a bit of numbness at times and
it's getting uncomfortable to play guitar, especially anything tricky
with bends. Anyone else experience this? I'm pretty certain it's
guitar related. Oh yeah, I'll be 50 next month : (

thanks,
tony

I've never heard of that, dude. I'd get it checked out. And I'm 52.

Bumps is a bit vague, but if you mean small cyst like things under the skin
near where the tendons attach to the bones, then yes. I thing it's an
occupational hazard after years of playing. You might want to see a doctor,
in case it's something progressive that could be stopped or at least slowed
down.

I am 50 also, and have hand problems (mostly numbness), but I KNOW
mine was caused by surgery I had in 2004. I think you should
definitely check it out. Good luck.

The lumps may be fibromas. You really need to see a doctor about them.

I wrap my hands, tape up a bit and hit a seriously solid pro-heavybag
and fast/small speed bag every-other-night, long and hard. I'm 51.

I'm holding a cross up at you both.

OK- just teasing about the cross...I am however, looking to the sky and
quietly giving thanks though...

Yeah. That sounds like more than someone's bout of arthritis or
something...agreed, have that looked into by a specialist*. Hopefully
it's not some sort of oncology... mvm

*Should get his primary care physician to recommend a Board-Certified
M.D. whose specialty is: _peripheral_neuropathy_ . Those symptoms sound
pretty serious...

Damn it Don-

Typing your last five urology reports into ABusenet isn't going to help
this man. Have you _no_ shame sir? _No_ sense of decency? How and why
would you accuse *him* of aimless wall slapping with _his_ unit?! That's
clearly a YP* not anyone else's P! Now pull up those drawers fatty and
shut off your laptop- someone's probably cooking dinner somewhere- go
sniffing something besides your pinky, ya phuctarded brain gobbler!

*Yer Problemo

Thanks for the replies. I'll be seeing my doc in a week. Meanwhile
I'm gonna play my piano & accordian. Hope it's not f--kin' arthritis.
That stuff sounds scary.
