Yup, a 12 string would be nice. I was playing a Yamaha FG-700 something
the other day in a local store. Bloody nice guitar, made in Indonesia
tho. Sounded good, played good a real typical Yammy.

I thought SG and LP necks were all pretty much the same? I suppose my SG
is pretty thin. Not 80's thin, but thinner than my 54 styled Strat neck
and pretty close to my Squier.

I used a 10c New Zealand coin at my cuzzy's house a few weeks back,
wasn't bad actually.

Just nothing coming in. No one wants to spend cash unless they get
desperate. Even PC repairs have died off. Suffice to say, that coupled
with a death and a terminal illness in the family and I'm finding it
hard to get motivated. I'm down to two days a week work atm.

Even my guitar playing is just flat. Never was George Harrison, but
still. At least its given me time at home with my wife an kids. And I've
re-wired the Andycaster. Man its got balls, a Shadow 59 Humbucker in the
neck and a GFS Alnico in the bridge. I really want to drop a Strat pup
in the middle too, then add 8 way switching. While I have time I also
want to work on the Keithcaster. A lap steel project I never seem to
have time for. Life rolls on.

Get some EMG-t's into that Tele Mate, bloody awesome pups. I like the
DG-20 but have to say the T's are the best EMG's I've heard.

...and it only cost you about 8c!

That guy from Pilot used a small silver coin, which my school friends
insisted was a 5c piece. It wasn't 5c, of course. He was a Pommy! It was
probably 5p.

Have you ever tried stone or brass? The stone picks I've seen are too thick
for picking accurately with, while the brass ones always seem too thin. I
was thinking of making brass picks in the same shape as Dunlop Tortex Sharps
(probably a millimetre thick), but a little bit sharper. I have no idea how
to get started of course. Just another hair-brained scheme...

The Kiwi 10c is copper, sounds better than nickel I think.

It's far narrower, if not thinner frets to back. I compare the diff
between a Les Paul and an SG to the diff between a Strat and a Tele as
far as the width of the fretboard goes. About the same-same, relatively
speaking. But they do feel the similar across the frets when fretting -
that's one of the things I love about Gibsons over Fenders, and why I
hate arched fretboards.

But I think a Tele U-neck is a bit deeper than an SG, because it seems
to fill my hand a bit better. Still - I really notice the string
spacing when I've played an SG. I suppose if you're a fast picker the
closer spacing could a plus and make you even faster, but I'm not really
a right hand speedster.

I get that a lot ;-) Nah, its a little over an inch in diameter.

...ok...a US half is about an inch and a...er..quarter...or so.

I was using an Ike dollar, and that's round 1.5" diameter. A little
big, but a quarter seems a bit too small.

I've gone from Fender Thin in the 70's, to mediums, to the Yellow
Dunlops, and now the Purple Dunlops -or- a couple of very cool hand made
wood picks http://surfpick.com/ . So I understand completely.

I've also gone from .008 on my Strat to ten's. I still have nines on
the Tele, but I also have 11's on semi-hollow and hollow bodies.

Well, I coulda predicted that one! I love my MIM Tele with active EMG T
set, and VMC active semi parametric cut/boost mids.

I see those changes as a good thing. It's always good to experiment,
and use the gear you have in different ways. Sometimes you find
something that you never knew was there. I know that's happened on some
of my guitar wiring mods.
