When I hit the back pickup I'm not looking for 'chime'... I'm
going for meat, which it delivers. I don't have it set up to
tap individually, so I don't have a clue how it sounds by itself
as single-coil... but when it taps in quack or front-back OOP,
it sounds super. I'll see if I can do a little video and show the
sounds I'm getting.

This is great information. I look forward to hearing the sounds.
Stupid question: I see "F-spacing" and "Regular spacing." Which do I
want for the Strat?

"F-Spacing" usually is for Fender string spacing...

That's what I did w/ my '85 MIJ (medium jumbos).
Also- Take a good look at Lindy Fralin's Strat series for PUPS. I put
his SP43
set in and honest to God, love that guitar now. I use 10's and
specifically,
hard to find GHS Nickel Rockers. Great guitars man. Look forward to

"F spacing" is for Fender Strat bridges (since the distance between
strings widens considerably towards the bridge and ultimately at the bridge)
so - F spacing for pups for Fender Strat bridge
and regular spacing for Fender Strat neck.
and the middle pickup can go either way.
Many times single coil pups are regular spaced so
at the bridge the poles won't exactly line up but close enough.
However there are single coils where you can get F spaced single coils
for the bridge pup. Same with humbuckers. F spaced for bridge and
regular spaced for neck pup. (if you have double-fat or 'big apple' strat)
In most cases the "rail" or blade type humbuckers have no 'f spacing'
as the rails or blades go right across the entire width of the strings.
So one size fits all sort of thing.

I did the same re-fret thing with my standard '94 MIM Strat. It
instantly became the go-to guitar for all live stuff. I'm a medium-
jumbo junkie, I am. ;^)
I'll check out the Fralin PUPs you suggested, too. Thanks.

I play a Squier too ;-) Actually a pair. Tele and Strat.
All hail Healey. Damn he was good.

I personally like the vintage small frets. The ones on my 50's MIM are
brilliant and I like the MIJ RI's with the same. I guess neck rad makes
a difference to what I prefer as the other 2 Strats (Squier included)
are 12" rad with Med Jumbo's and they are brilliant payers. Of course
the MIM is 7.25".
Yeah and fantastic pics too, Dave. ;-) That guitar looks bloody
gorgeous. Drop that EMG back in and a pair of SA's ;-) Then an SPC
boost, that will put the cat amongst the pigeons.
What year is it?
