Terry Herzog - a paedophile's tale - Jigsaw - 7-:03 -0-09-20

In a dimly lit basement of a run-down house in Cincinnati, Terry Herzog
awoke finding himself slumped in a chair. Grunting to himself, he
scratched at his left armpit and slowly stood up with the intention of
switching on his computer. The rattle of a chain preceded a shrill
scream when Terry emptied his lungs as sudden pain infiltrated the last
vestiges of mental fog. Looking down, Terry stared in disbelief at the
source of his discomfort: a chain bolted to the ceiling running down to
his crotch, the last link connecting his testicles by piercing his
scrotal sac. Terry screamed once more in pain and attempted to pull the
chain from the ceiling but it was bolted fast.
A sudden flicker of light distracted Terry from his efforts and he
looked towards the corner of the room at the television which was the
source of the light. White noise gave way to an image of a sinister
looking puppet with black eyes sporting angry red irises staring at him
from behind the glass screen. Concentric red circles painted underneath
each eye were suggestive of danger and when the puppet's mouth began to
move in a parody of speech, the sub-octave voice confirmed Terry's worst
suspicions:
'Hello Terry. You don't know me but I know you. I want to play a
game. Your life, such as it is, has so far been characterised by
failure: failure to take control of your circumstances, failure to
conquer the impulses that drive you and failure to rise above the
sickness that finds pleasure in the exploitation of those too young to
take control of their destiny the way you have failed to take control of
your own. Today you have an opportunity to make amends and take control
of your life. I offer you the gift of freedom - the gift of living your
life without temptation, a chance to cure yourself of your sickness once
and for all. All you have to do is free yourself of the chains that
bind you and walk out of this room. But be careful, Terry. You only
have one minute before the explosives placed beneath your chair will
takes matters out of your hands. Live of die - make your choice.'
Terry started shouting, trying to pull the chain from the ceiling but it
refused to move. Looking underneath the chair, being careful not to
disturb the chain in a manner that would bring him more pain, Terry saw
that he was not being lied to: set on top of the explosives placed
beneath the chair was a timer counting down inexorably while Terry began
to sweat and whimper. When the timer reached thirty, Terry made his
first attempt to pull the chain from his testicles, gritting his teeth
in pain, but it wasn't enough. Terry cast his mind back to when his
mother used to wax his legs and how she would rip the fabric off quickly
if she was in a good mood but would pull it off slowly if she had a mind
to torment him. Counting backwards from five, Terry put all his efforts
into giving a sudden, quick pull on the chain and as the link split the
skin of his scrotal sac, a barb welded to the link inside his scrotum
hitherto unknown sliced through his testicles and Terry was unmanned.
Collapsing to the floor in shock, Terry was unable to scream and lay
there twitching as neurons fired erratically in his brain due to a
combination of agony, horror and disbelief. When the shock subsided the
pain began anew but Terry's sense of self preservation galvanised him
toward the door. The excruciating feeling of being torn inside out
nearly caused Terry to collapse once more as he reached up towards the
handle but a last desperate grasp saw the handle in Terry's sweating
hand. Terry began to pull on the handle but nothing happened.
Screaming and gurgling with frenzied movements, Terry desperately shook
the handle and pounded on the door but it was no use. The door was locked.
Terry's hearing left him first. The sudden air pressure was too much
and his ears could work no longer. His silent scream was cut short by
the sudden impact of shrapnel impaling his body and the dismemberment
that it caused. Terry's lifeless body slumped to the floor in pieces,
blood spraying on the four walls, ceiling and floor as if an airbrush
had applied its final touch.
