No one is interested in discussing guitars on this group. Instead it's
filled with the ravings of perverts, paedophiles, cyber-bullies,
stalkers, delusional liars and their enablers. It's not a healthy place
to be. The main culprits know exactly who they are (unless nymshifting
is suggestive of an identity crisis...) and I hope you're proud of
ruining this group for people who want to take part in serious discussion.
I don't like using web-based forums but it seems that I have no choice.
Usenet is going downhill but this group has overtaken the steady
decline. I don't want to waste any more time hanging around in a cesspit.

I made a similar statement a couple of days ago which can be found in one of
the earlier threads on this n.g. One guy rationalized his childish and OT
postings by citing the "freedom of speech" mantra which gets so abused by
thoughtless people such as himself. It is a shame that such a few selfish
people are bringing down the value of the internet and newsgroup use. I have
noticed that the number of guitar-related postings has dropped dramatically
on all guitar n.g.'s and, if you eliminate the OT ones, there would be
almost no postings of value. I don't blame you for giving up.

What was the point of that response other than to confirm and demonstrate
BB's post.
If you would all just stop poking each other in the eye for a while you

The world is full of crap like that. Doesn't help much to complain
about it, or point out the posters who spew the shaite. Do what you
need to do about it, or ignore it, but don't complain about it.
Do you react to shit like that in the real world? Doesn't help at all.
The ones that lose their tempers first lose first. It's like the joke
about the trucker who's being pestered by bikers in a diner, they tip
over his coffee and spit in his doughnut and push him off the stool
and the guy just thanks and leaves. While the bikers laugh at his
cowardice later, a waiter comes in to ask if they happen to be owners
of those bikes out back that just got flattened to pancakes by some
unknown 18 wheeler...
The only way to deal with shit on the usenet is ignore it, or report
to abuse. There is no answer in existence that you can give to a
poster like you describe. You will only reduce yourself to their level
and their imaginary world of somehow reigning the usenet with their
verbal acrobatics - yet clever as they may sometimes appear to be, it
is all they are. Someone reveals being a mental teenager - forget it,
hit ignore from now on. Don't even read those through, only talk with
the adult population here.
So simply killfile, killfile, killfile again, report abuse...and when
you see a post get thru that is clearly OT, just don't read it. These
days, yeah, you may have days between posts appearing here, it's
pretty dead indeed now that I've ignored those who just practice this
sort of usenet wankery, but what remains, is still good.
It's not like it's live discusion. You do NOT have to read what you
don't like. You do NOT have to react or reply to what you don't like.
(And, to be frank, I sometimes enjoy some lunatic/delusionalist posts
immensely myself. Sometimes I like to tickle-troll some Linux etc.
fanatics myself a bit.)
It's simple as that. Don't quit; help us make it worthwhile again.
Or just say that this post is just shaite too; maybe it is. But that's
the beauty of it all. In the usenet you don't have to conform to
anybody else's ideas...just move on and let them wallow in their
fantasies. Feel free to tell me to do just that too :-)

current incarnation. I think it's wonderful that he unsubs. One less
