Hey Squier -- listening now -- I remember the last time you posted one
of these duets. She's got a fantastic voice, and yeah, doing this kind
of stuff is fun. Keep up the good work!

practicing for 4th of July - another song to share - Squier - 7-:03 -0-09-20

just one of the songs we're practicing for July 4th weekend.
Every July 4th there is a local festival/event and this is
the third year I've played at it. I usually hook up with
one of my best friends (yeah she's a little older but we've
known each other for years). Anyways I play electric in
another band that also plays at the same July 4th event,
but her and I always do a few acoustic songs.

Here is a song we're practicing. We just quickly recorded
it using a Zoom 4 channel recorder. Acoustic mic'd with
Shure 57 and she's singing through Shure 58.
Very quick and dirty recording - but she has a voice that
will melt you down. Yeah - that's me strumming along.
Just trying to give you an idea of what we play and another
side to me (acoustic strummer).

(aside note: this song has some special meaning for us
and it's a personal song for us. Once again, don't expect
world class guitar work or shredding solos. We just happen
to love this song). We have another 5 or 6 songs we'll do
as part of an acoustic set for the July 4th bash.

Hey - if anyone hears us play this live on the 4th - then you are at
the same event we are at. come up and say Hi!

Hey - at least this is on topic post.
I wish there were more guitar related posts in here
so I always appreciate any on topic posts. Thanks to everyone
here that does keep the group going with guitar/gear related posts.

thanks RichL -- nice of you. Yeah, I posted up some other
songs we have done (acoustic with me strumming and her singing).
You know something - I think I have the most fun doing simple
accompaniments with her. It's most enjoyable.

Ah well - I have one final practice tomorrow night
with the regular weekend band (the doobie bros cover
we do was posted not too long ago here). So our band
leader will be in rare form since a lot of people will
be there for the July 4th event. I'm going to play some
killer rhythms - and he knows it! heh.

Hope everyone here has a good July 4th weekend - and even
those that July 4th is just another weekend - you also have a good one!
Sometimes you wake up and realize that being alive is a precious thing.
Enjoy it!

*******************
aside for any gear hounds out there -
the guitar I am playing is a Taylor 414 (grand auditorium).
It's easy to play and has a nice full sound to it.
(it's her guitar -well one of her guitars - but I like the way
it plays and sounds so that's
what I prefer to use when playing acoustic with her).

Like the vox but it sounds like it was recorded through a cheapo
cassette recorder.

Hey that was fantastic. I could listen to an entire album of you two. Makes
me want to get out my guild accoustic.

I really like it. As far as the presentation ... hey, it worked for
Sugarland. You have a nice feel as a strummer, and not everyone does. Have
a great forth!!
