Guitar Discussions -> I was attacked by Edgar Winter's bodyguard

I was attacked by Edgar Winter's bodyguard - WeReo_ScoTTy - 6-:29 -0-09-20

It was in a little club calwed The Left Bank which was in Mount Vernon, New
York oh, around 1980-1981 or so. Formerly a bankbranch thus the name.
I had seen Edgar Winter a couple of years prior at his sold-out show in
Madison Square Garden. It might've been from my "Gabby" OBM days when I
brought crews to get free ticcyies at Madison Square Garden and such.
So I'm the only one standing there FRONT OF HOUSE for a long time waiting
for Edgar Winter to take the small stage. Think this was the first time I
ever met a muslim or hindu who introduced himself to me as "Obed." I had
never heard a name like that before.
I liked Edgar but I never got into Johnny. So he took the stage and did his
show. It was wonderful. Outside the dive, however, is where the trouble
started. I was waiting around to see Edgar. He came out with a few dudes,
three at least I think.
I'm standing about 20 feet ahead of them. The dude on his right, and you
wouldn't believe this but that's how it seemed at the time, this dude leapt
out on one foot and attacked me with some sort of kung-fu chop that of
course I'd never seen before. I guess they were a little nervous being Edgar
comes from far away, Beaumont Texas to be exact. Anyway that was totally
uncalled for.
I'd been at an AC-DC concert at the Meadowlands, New Jersey once. Btw I
would never go to an AC-DC concert on my own volition. I was just going to
keep some friends comapny. So awl of a sudden, and I don't know why, a group
of AC-DC bodyguards actually climbs UP into the audience and start attacking
a group of girls sitting there. I mean really attacking them. Why? I don't
know. But they did. It's sick. And these girls got it a LOT worse than I did
at the Edgar Winter concert.
I oughtta contact Edgar and ask him about this lol. I've seen him around the
Internet. I am the only one who matters.

Being that a location actually existed...as I was there also when I

I won some free concert tickets courtesy of Matt on at least one
occassion. There was another place, it wasn't The Left Bank which was
in Mount Vernon, rather it was a club in New Rochelle. Do you remember
it? Btw I went to Iona College in New Rochelle for a year, January
1976-January 1977. I didn't last very long. Iona is a tough, tough
school as far as their academia goes. I know the college is still
there! Lol.
And I played on the football team for a short while until that non-
chalent looking blond dude playing offense gave me one POP! BANG, man
that was the end of my Iona football career right on the spot. I later
saw the dude in the weightroom benching massive amounts of weights.
Little did I know the danger I was actually in.
It was wonderful when I won the tickets. These were the days of
Nuclear Warrior, I think, but long before the days of Wereo. I
remember they had a banquet with some pretty tasty food, some soft
pasta & rich sauce and stuff. Then I told you there was the time he
invited me into the studio. You remember that *tiny* air room? Lol.
But you don't remember Kimberly Gatzen, Matt's girlfriend. She was
tall & *very* pretty with her long hair in braids and she did awl the
shows with Matt.
I asked Matt how they squeezed entire bands into that tiny air room
and he told me, "they awl pile in there!" I can't picture more than
two ppl, even ONE squeezing into that air room to this very day.
Didn't you have a show there? What was the name of your show? What
were the call letters, 93.5 WRTN, I think? I think they still
broadcast, but of course Matt's long gone. Matt's show was Midnight
Metal, I believe.
I don't know whatever happened to Matt, but I know his father owns or
owned the station and the AM affiliate right next door, WVOX I
believe, so he must be in good shape wherever he is.

I know of a few places in New Rochelle, but I honestly don't remember
tha names. My main place back then was The Rising Sun in Yonkers.
I had a show called "The Dream Maker Show", it was just 1/2 hour on
Friday nights at 11:30. Basically I played songs of un-signed bands
(and snuck in as many of my own as I could) My friend owned a block of
time on the station- he had a religious show in Spanish. He broke his
time up...I was followed by a rap show, one of the first around...it
became very popular, but they also insisted on using songs with curses
in them...since we were a block of time...we all got thrown off after
about 6-7 months, I believe it was 84 or 85. I don't remember the call
letters. I'm thinkin' maybe 93.7 but really don't remember..the WRTN
is correct and they called it "return radio".
