Simple. Replace the hardware and refinish the guitar in order to
preserve the burn marks and you will have one very unique guitar. The
tone would be different and the look would be very interesting. it
would be a story guitar a lot like Brian May's Guitar.
That is, in a word, the sort of thing people get famous for.
I'm considering bidding on it. The only problem I am worried about is
if the truss rod (or other hardware) has melted in some way which
means the guitar cannot be repaired as-is.

ok ... There I could agree with the *cool* and unique thought.
Zappa's kid got Hendrix' axe from Monterey .. ..
*different* . Most planks with magnets sound similar,
but different too. Good starting point of parts at least.
