Speaking of multi effects.. - Renli - 6-:27 -0-09-20

this looks much better than a pod. :p

Roland did great with the Cube. Could this be "Roland does it again?"

I hope they make it a habit. Honestly before the cube I had not
thought of roland as a guitar company, maybe more of a small,
"midi"/"piano" type of company.

Maybe. The cool thing about the ME series is that they behave like a
collection of stompboxes - easier to program than a Pod. But sound-
wise, I'd rate them about equal.

Roland has been making guitar amps and Boss pedals for ages. Yes, they
make a lot of keyboard and MIDI stuff, but they've always done guitar
stuff too.

I've never been impressed by COSM. But I don't like PODs either.

Band mate has one. From what I've heard .. not bad.
I use Gr-20 .. worth it in a band setup, with a digtech GX

Well tone is subjective and so is 'ease of use' but I had
a Boss ME-50 and traded it away. It was really easy to use
compared to the multi-effects that you have to program or
conjur up presets.. etc.. The ME-50 worked pretty much like
a pedal board with selectable effects for each type of pedal
(distortion/overdrive/filter&Envelope effects.. etc.

The reality was that most of the tones in there sucked.
The modeled tones in the Boss ME-50 didn't sound nearly as
good as the many analog Boss pedals they attempted to emulate
within the ME-50. Many of the tones that sounded good at
home practice and small basement practice levels simply didn't
cut it at full band volume or just washed out under band volume.

So I traded it away and now just stay with tried and true
analog pedals and a pedal board. I know many people out there
playing live use multi-effects - and they always get a bit washed out
in live band play (imho). They just don't sound great for this (again imho).
But they can record well and sound very good at lower home playing volumes.

Anyways. the ME-50 was very cool! But just didn't do well
in any sort of loud live band setting (imho).
It was built like a tank and very sturdy so it should last a while.

I had an older ME-30, "upgraded" to the ME-50. Sold the ME-50 fairly
quickly...just didn't like the sounds at all. At that time I used a
KorgAX1500G and it was much better than the Boss even though it's a
modeler. I still like my PODxt, but it takes a lot of tweaking...but
the great sound really is in there.

That was a good generation for those Korg boxes, I have the Ampworks-
G, which was their paired down 1600G "Pocket POD". Best AC15 and
AC30TB sims I've heard. Also does a pretty damn good JTM45.

I was looking for a multiFX pedal about a year ago, and at the same time
happened to try a couple of those Boss amp emulator pedals (I think one was
a Bassman). The sound of those was enough to turn me off trying any other
Boss digital FX using the same technology.
