strange case of delayed skills? - RK - 6-:25 -0-09-20

Maybe I'm becoming too deep here, but has any of you experienced the strange
experience of practising a difficult piece on your guitar. Having exercised
over and over without being able to play it---- and then the next day,
magically - you do it ?? What's going on here, what is the explanation of
"delayed skills"!

Not only applies to a guitar but just about everything. Spawn of
sayings like "Take a step back and breathe or rethink.)

I suppose it's an overload of the brain's working or 'short term'
memory. Have a look here and read:

Have you been down to the crossroads?

Yep, and sometimes the rethinking takes place in some kind of background
mode where you're not consciously aware of it.

Exactly, it feels just like your subconscious is still working on the
problem though you're not aware of it! (and how does it do that, I mean the
guitar is now hanging on the wall :-)

Sensory input is run through the hippocampus until it finally sticks.
May take several passes. This isn't something you are consciously
aware of. People who have had their hippocampus removed still retain
memories of past and the frontal lobe short term working memory still
functions. But they cannot remember new things. People who lose the
frontal lobe have no working memory and have to write shit down as it
happens in order to remember what they did during the day. The also
have lost the ability to add to their long term memory. This is
probably do to the communications loss through the hippocampus into
the cortex of the brain. Autonomic functions like breathing are a
function of the brain stem.
