Finished Modified Epi LP Jr. - Dinosaur_Sr - 6-:24 -0-09-20

I finally got the Jazzmaster pups in, then the cover and some new
tuners. A real learning experience for me! FWIW, I got the Seymour
Duncan SJM1 pup, the not hot ones. They have others, SJM3 I think,
that are supposed to be "hot".

I got the Epi LP Jr and the Jassmaster pup first, so I decided I
needed to rout out the cavity in the LP Jr so that the Jazzmater pup
would fit into it. While doing this the dogs distracted me and I made
an error, routing the cavity about 1/16" too much in one place, and it
shows with the pups installed. On getting the pup cover, it became
obvious to me that a Jazzmaster doesn't need any sort of cavity at
all! Next time I'll know better!

The Epi tuners are nasty, so I got some new locking tuners. I had to
drill out the holes a bit. I already know to start on both ends a bit
to prevent damage to the finish...but with guitars this has never been
a problem...before...I chipped off a good bit of the finish on 3 of
the tuner holes...to top it off, I had to drill new screw holes for
the tuner, and went right through twice...the wood is so soft it
didn't take much!

...now I get to have fun with that acrylic plastic stuff used to cover
blemishes!

In any event, it sounds pretty good. The pup cover sits a little high,
and I might sand about 2mm off the bottom of it to give me a little
more flexibility with setup, but not now. It sounds OK to me, and
plays OK for me set to 6/64" fron the 17th fret on both sides. I might
want to change the bridge/tailpiece, and another might work OK with
the pup cover as it is.

All in all, not too bad for about 200 bucks total cost. The next time
I do this sort of thing, it will be perfect!

Sounds like a job pretty well done and time well
spent. Remember in the Zen of the universe there
has to be imperfection in an endeavor as a sign of
respect.
