After a bit of fiddling and pedal swapping this week I have arrived with a
combination as follows:
Overdrive:
a) mild, bluesy overdrive via Digitech Bad Monkey (can crank up a little if
required).
b) Visual Sounds Jeckyl & Hyde on the Jeckyl side with about 50% overdrive,
gives a reasonable Thin Lizzy-Jailbreak era tone, maybe a bit of Bachman
Turner Overdrive (pun not intended and I apologise for the reference to a
cheesy band).
c) Digitech Distortion Factory on the Tubescreamer setting with very low
gain and a scooped low/mid/high setting, gives an mildly overdriven sound
with very little colouring to the original tone.
Distortion:
Visual Sounds Jeckyl & Hyde on the Hyde side with gain at 75%. Heaps of
distortion but a great clear tone (somehow).
Signal provided by Gibson Les Paul Studio, amplified by Fender Hot Rod
Deluxe.
This has all been fun. I'll probably decide I need to change it again in a
week.
