shit piss fuck (Losing access) - SotR - 6-:18 -0-09-20

I just got an e-mail saying ATT&T Yahoo is terminating Usenet service as
of 7/15. The only groups I really use are Alt.guitar, bass, Beatles, trumpet
and pro-audio. Guitar and bass I hold near and dear, I feel you all are
extended family. The others I'm more of an infrequent lurker and seldom
contributor.
Off to Google I guess. Same thing, but via my OE the newsgroups were so
convenient and after 13 years, familiar and comfortable with the gui.

Yeah I got the same e-mail in every group I visit and post in. The way I
look at it count how many post are even worth reading anymore compared to
the pointless troll posting that dominate the groups especially alt guitar.
I don't really even care that much anymore most the time I log in is just
from hobbit. Spend less and less time on alt guitar. Nothing last forever.

You can get much better 3rd party service for a few dollars a month.
Check out Supernews and Giganews, among others; for myself, I pay about
$5/month. Apparently Giganews has some accounts that start around $3.
There are many free UseNet servers (google "free usenet servers") but
feequently, retention is poor, group selection is spotty, and posting may
not be permitted, or be seriously limited.

When my ISP dropped usenet several years ago, I decided then that I
wasn't going to pay for news service. I'm happy mainly Googlurking
with the occasional free post here and there, especially now that half
the post are wereo's endless babbling and the handful of idiots (GDS,
Desk Rabbit, the perv-o-tard in Cincinatti, etc.) that he toys with.

Google's not so bad..... I went to it after Deja when the big G bought
the usenet archive. I can deal with it. Plus my inbox doesn't get
filled up with a bunch of crap I don't want.
